We use an electric hopper opener that is a worry-free system with gears and housing that are all metal, built to handle hard stops, which gets rid of the need for limit switches that can be unreliable and easily damaged by harsh working conditions.
The Actual torque varies based on wire size, length and battery voltage and the motor is sized to protect your trailer components. The 150 low-torque motor is standard for trailers with strap style traps, the 250 motor for rack-and-pinion traps.
The electric hopper opener includes an advanced handheld remote.
The remote deactivates when the flip-style cover is closed, or shuts off after three minutes of inactivity. A cab-mounted or trailer-mounted master disconnect switch kills power to the tarp and hopper openers – no complicated button sequence required. The sealed, quick-connect wiring harness reduces connector corrosion and adds plug-and-play convenience at installation.
